Friends for La Plata Preservation


The Friends For La Plata Preservation group was founded as a non-profit historical group in 1996. Specifically the group was formed to preserve the history of the La Plata locale; to discover, gather, receive and promote the preservation of historic buildings, monuments, markers and historical events.

FLPP has taken on several large challenges in it's short history; one being the complete restoration of the La Plata Amtrak Station. In preparation of the 2005 Sesquicentennial of La Plata, a small group of FLPP members joined together to compile and publish the "La Plata Missouri and Area Sesquicentennial Book", with 464 pages of northeast Missouri history and family histories.

Currently, FLPP is busy with the restoration of the Green Theatre and fundraising projects to that end.
