History of La Plata
On St. Patrick's Day, 1827, a pioneer searching for a home, was the first white man to stay overnight in the township of La Plata. Drury Davis laid the foundation stone that day for the town that was to become La Plata, Missouri. Friends and relatives soon followed him and staked land. City of La Plata receives $15,000 grant!
The City of La Plata received the first Macon County Landfill Fee grant in the amount of $15,000. The money will be used to replace sewer pumps. Mayor John McGee serves on the Macon County Landfill Board. Alderman Trent Perry serves on the Macon County Economic Development Board.
